Romans 12:2
Paul, in verse 2, is saying that the child of God is to let the inner nature of his being manifest itself outwardly
for the world to see.  The Christian is not to blend in with his or her world surroundings.  Do not camouflage
yourself to look like your environment.  Don't let this evil world that is run by workers of inequity and sons
of Satan dictate what your life is to be like.  Don't conform to it.  The Christian is not to fit the world's
pattern.  It contradicts the nature of what a Christian is.  When in Rome you are not to do as Rome does--
you are to do as a Christian does.  "Be ye transformed."  This is a very interesting   word.  It is the Greek
word "metamorphomai."  It is used in Matthew 17:12 where it is translated transfigured.  Jesus was
"transfigured" before them.  We get our English word--metamorphosis from this word.  It means to allow the
inner nature of something to be manifested outwardly.

At the transfiguration of Jesus, the inner nature of His deity was manifest outwardly and "the fashion of His
countenance" was altered.  If you are going to be a Christian, then be one, and let it be seen in your actions
and life.  Your outward expression is to manifest your inner nature--not the worlds.  It's easy to conform but
difficult to be transformed, but my brothers and sisters, this can be accomplished "by the renewing of your
mind."  A mind that has been renewed by the Holy Spirit and is now capable of making spiritual judgments.

As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.  Our actions are the outgrowth of our thinking.  If we think wrong we
act wrong.  Sin is first conceived in the mind before the act is born.  The aim of such consecration and
dedication is that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

In Him,

Reverend John O. Veasey, Jr.
